How to Rescreen a Sliding Door

Take the screen door off of the track. There might be small pins on the side of the screen automatic door. If you pull the pins out of the sides, you will be able to remove it from the track.

Put the screen door face down on a flat surface so you can work with it. The part of the automatic sliding door that is faces outside should be down.

Look around the frame of the door until you find a small gray tube. This small gray tube is referred to as the retaining spline. Use the flat-head screwdriver to wedge the spline up and. Pull the spline out of the channel on the sliding door.

Remove the screen from the sliding door opener. Lay your new screen over the frame of the sliding door.

Spread the new screen over the sliding door frame until you have it as tight as possible. Cut the new screen so you can allow ¼ inch of the screen to remain on the outside of the retaining spline's channel.

Use the flat-head screwdriver to push the new screen into the retaining spline's channel. Place the retaining spline into the channel and push it into the channel with your flat-head screendriver.

Go around the entire frame with the retaining spline until you have the whole sliding door framed.

Replace the door on the track.
